Why Jump Rope Is A Great Resolution to Stick to this 2022

 By Amanda Mansoorbakht

Grab your sequined mini dresses, girls, we’re ringing in 2022!

New Years is riddled with cliches; the coveted kiss at midnight, champagne-encouraged selfies captioned “#new year, new me,” and of course the dreaded failed New Year's resolution.

Approximately 45% of all Americans make New Year’s resolutions. In a study by the University of Scranton, just 8 percent of people see their new year’s goals to fruition, while 80 percent of people can’t seem to stick to the new habit.

I’m sure you’ve attempted many resolutions in the past. Perhaps you wanted to learn the guitar, practice calligraphy, or go no-contact with that toxic ex. Some resolutions stuck, while some vanished in thin air after January 3rd. A lot of people see New Year’s resolutions as a waste of time. “I already am happy the way I am.” or “I don’t care what others think!” But here’s the thing; if you’re not growing, you’re dying. And what better way to say “lookout world, I’m alive!”  than some good old human progress?

Why you should make a fitness related New Year’s Resolution

There is always opportunity for growth when it comes to staying in shape. No wonder, every year the top New Year’s resolutions are to, you guessed it, stay fit and healthy. You should make a fitness New Year’s Resolution to challenge your body, tone up, and support your overall health. It’s no secret that consistent exercise is the key to longevity and a happy soul. So, what do you say? Let’s welcome 2022 with a fit body, disciplined mind, and some awesome new jump rope skills!

Don’t forget to begin with the right attitude

Starting the new year off with a determined attitude will give you the momentum to reach your goals. Having a New Year’s resolution can be daunting, but it’s important to prioritize consistency. All you need is 30 days to comfortably settle into your new routine. After that, your new habit will be etched in your day to day - and you won’t even have to think about it. It’ll just come second nature. After that happens, you’ll have more energy on your plate to plan up some new goals!  Remember, some really old, wise, philosophy dude once said an object in motion, stays in motion.

How to stick to a fitness related goal

With so many goals ignored (let’s face it, the couch is comfy and HBO Max is just too good), it’s easy to beat yourself up for dreaming big. So, how does one self-motivate to get stuff done?

  • Stay Positive

The long road to your goal will be slow and downright frustrating at times. Don’t beat yourself up for bad workout days! Make sure to never complain! Your goals are supposed to make you better, and if you’re trudging through the experience negatively, you may be slowed down.

  • Track your progress

Keep a small journal to track your daily musings. Track your daily workout, how you feel, and your energy levels. This journal will motivate you on days you just can’t be bothered by your goal. Your past self is basically reminding you of the pay-off.

  • Use your goal to destress

It’s easier to keep goals that relieve stress rather than pursue ones that are hectic and overly complicated. Choose a fitness related goal that will help you decompress after a long day of work and see your energy and mood flourish with each passing day.

  • Think of the bigger picture.

Inspire yourself by seeing the bigger picture. Who do you want to be in 2 years? 5 years? 10? Your resolution should get you closer to that beautiful version of you. You got this!

  • Grab a friend and have fun!

The more exciting and enjoyable your goals are, the easier they will be to stick to. Get a loved one in on your New Year’s resolution and set up a daily workout time where you both can learn the ins and outs of the jump rope together. Your friend will keep you accountable on off days not to mention, they’ll love sharing an activity with you that helps you succeed. No negative Nancy's allowed!

Why Jump Rope is a great 2022 goal

Learning to get good at jump rope is the perfect New Year’s Resolution, because it boosts circulation to your body, (which is essential for jumpstarting a positive mood!) it also is a super fun and inexpensive way to destress the body and stay fit. Stick to your new year’s resolution with my absolute favorite cordless jump rope from Fresh Fire. The best part of this do-it-all jump rope is that it features tracking analytics that closely monitor your jump progress. It calculates jumps per minute, daily, weekly, monthly, annual progress and the cumulative jump count in each workout session.
